I know 5 stars is pushing it, and probably not totally accurate. But when I think of Steamboat, I think of the morning I was there with 26" of fresh encapsulating the mountain. I don't even know how to ski in that much snow! Black runs required no turning at all! Just hope to hell you make it back to a chair lift and don't fall! So this is a review for a restaurant not the mountain you say? Well yes it is, but the snow part matters. Because it turns out GP&G has a powder day special! Cheap bloody-mary's! It was the best bloody-mary I can ever remember having too. GAWD it was good. I asked for it extra spicy and I'm not exactly sure what they did but it was GOOD, and the angels sang. Also the food was pretty good too, I remember getting a grilled chicken sandwich that was really well made. Overall when I think of Steamboat, I think of GP&G! Well that and the crazy dumps of snow I had while I was there. Atmosphere was always friendly and I really give big bonus points there too.

Close to the gondola, as the name says. Food was Ok, nothing pericualry special in what we had . The service was very good. Stairs are kind of a bummer in ski boots. I am not sure why they would design a venue with two sets of stairs when many people are in ski boots, geared up for the slopes? The food and service were good. We had a lunch and breakfast in here. I had a chicken sandwich for lunch, and it was pretty good. The bun was the weakest link, and a bit thin on the bottom for all the fixings pilled on. The fries were kind of unremarkable. But it was hot, served fast and welcome after a day on the slopes. My son had a Cesar salad, and he was pretty satisfied. The chicken on it a little overdone. But still solid. Our waitress for this meal, and breakfast were both great. They treated us very well and got us back on the slopes. The breakfast was good. The one thing I did not like about the menu was that either you ordered a fancy/better egg-mcmuffin for about $6 or you had a full on plate of food for about $12. They need more choices. Maybe I could have mixed and matched? The location is good, but as i said, too many stairs.

This place reminds me of a TGI Fridays: same feel, same type of food. I got the fish & chips. Both the fries and fish were pretty standard. Being a tourist trap, it's overpriced.

Pretty good food, but a little overpriced. The reason I'm giving this two stars is because of a really strange rule they have. I went in for lunch by myself and was sat at a 6-person booth. 10 minutes into me being there, someone else from my party showed up and wanted to order at my table. Apparently if someone joins your table they cannot order food unless they go and "wait in line for another table". The reason for this is to prevent large groups from reserving a table and constantly cycling out people from the slopes and therefore bypassing the waiting list. However, having my dad join me for lunch while I was there was not exactly a large group trying to table-squat. So my dad just sat there with me and couldn't order. They made less money and pissed off their customers, seems like a win-win to me! (sarcastic tone)

Fast service. Food taste good because I'm hungry and I would take anything right now. Margaritas are horrible & expensive not included in Happy Hour. The beer list for Happy Hour looks decent enough though. The chips and mango salsa are really tasty. It's a hit & miss type of restaurant.

Stopped in with a family of four for lunch. My wife had the beet salad and complained about stomach pains the rest of the afternoon. I had the Caesar chicken wrap with lays potato chips. The chips were fantastic. I am still chewing on the chicken jerky they covered with Caesar dressing. The chicken did have good flavor. The kids enjoyed their blt and chicken strips. The service was good and the waitress cheerful. However, only my wife received silverware and only because she asked...she needed one for her salad, kinda high maintenance I know. Anyway, great location, lays chips are fantastic, avoid the beet salad, byof (bring your own fork), and all will be fine at the bottom of the hill.

Good food, a little over priced. Don't go during the awkward breakfast lunch time because the servers are confused. We were told at 10:50 we could not order lunch until all the breakfast orders were put into the computer - whatever that means, so we settled for breakfast. Ordered a second round of drinks and the server laughed? Not sure what was so funny about ordering more drinks on a Tuesday afternoon - we were on vacation. Asked for hot sauce and was told they were all out on tables. Asked the table next to me if they were finished and they happily handed it over. Left the lady 3 bucks on a $60 tab - she deserved it!

Are you in town for a little skiing or bike riding? Are you hungry? Are you not willing to spend the minimum of $13 for a burger at the nearby Truffle Pig? So you're saying, you're cheap? Oh, frugal. Fine, whatever floats your boat. So the 4 of us were in town to ride the snow and we came in a day early. After my friends got their rentals in order, we shopped a little and found ourselves a little hungry. Yelp suggested the Truffle Pig and we decided to go because of the name, until we saw the prices. Do you like fried foods? Do you like nachos? Do you like pickles? Who doesn't?! You can get all of those and maybe all of them combined! Okay, not all, but fried pickle spears? Make it so. So it's happy hour and we notice that it's $1 off all appetizers. Appetizer dinner! Wait. You said you were cheap, right? I mean, wanted cheap.. right. Do you like tortilla chips covered in chili, sour cream, cheese and God knows what?! Then you should try something they call "Pub nachos" (only available during happy hour [after 3pm]). If you like fried pickle chips, perhaps you should try fried pickle spears! They're better because they retain their moisture. The onion rings are good, but they get cold quickly and lose their appeal. Cheese fries? Yeah, they're okay. The Ribeye? Probably okay if they offered it. The service is okay, our waitress was on the ball that day, but the next day, the waitress would only bring things in the order they were asked. A refill, silverware and ketchup only came one per visit to our table. It took a while. You can sit outside next to the gas fire. We did considering it was 55 degrees and inside was a little cramped. They got lots to drink, alcoholic and non. It's right in the middle of the base, so it's easy to get to and a great place to meet up if your group likes to split up or your friends like to go rogue cause you're too slow. Go big and before going home hit the Gondola Pub and Grill.

If you are skiing Steamboat this should the first stop on your Apres Ski Activities. Loud and sometimes rowdy but always friendly and fun, my wife commented it is a bit of a fashion show at times with. Great drinks served up quick and Jaegermeister by the gallons. Great food vales too. Every slope should have a place this good!

So last month I went up to Steamboat for a weekend ski jaunt. Although I did more relaxing than skiing, I did hit the slopes for at least one full day before my legs turned to jelly. At the end of that day, I wrapped up with a few hot toddies and bar snacks at the Gondola. While I wouldn't call this fine dining on any scale, it gets the job done as far as filling your empty belly after expending millions of calories going up and down the mountain. My sis and I split a soup-salad-sando combination, and my brother in law had a burger and beers. While I thought his burger looked a little weird (I thought it could have passed for a veggie burger in appearance) he said he enjoyed it. HH is from 3-6 every day, and you can get some pretty good deals on adult beverages and apps. All in all a decent place filled with skiing paraphernalia (even an antique gondola in the main dining room), lots of peeps, and semi-harried wait staff.

Great spot right on the mountain. Went in here right after arriving in Steamboat and couldn't have been greeted any better. Titus (sp) the bar tender is a great guy, definitely kept myself and a buddy entertained the whole time we were in. Happy hour specials are pretty good. I see all of these complaints about the cost of the food, but remember that this is a privately owned bar on a ski hill. You're going to pay the same, if not more, for other places like this in the area, so just get ready for that. I will most definitely be back here.

The bacon bloody mary got my friends and I to come back. We were there for breakfast and a mid-day drink, which was another bacon bloody mary. Anytime during the day this place is packed. Families usually don't take up any bar space which is great for those of age. Although the drinks are great, staff not so much. The bartender wasn't able to engage in conversation with anyone because he was so busy. There should be waitstaff available to the bar area rather than having to order drinks and food at the bar with only one bartender.

This part of Colorado still has not been handled and molested by the reviewers of yelp. I'm used to reviewing places in the bay with over 100 reviews, while over here, very few reviews exist, even though it is a pretty hot vacation ground. This is one of two legit places right at the base of the resort where one can relax and unwind with food and drinks. So it gets pretty packed for the apres-ski crowd, where you either have to stand at the bar or put your name on a wait for a table. That is my only real knock for this place. Beers are cheap and cold during happy hour $2.50 pints for domestic and some pretty good pub grub is also to be had. We tried their Chili-Cheese Fries $6 and was real tasty after a long day in the snow. Fries nothing spectacular but the chili was quite good and homemade. It definitely was not from a can, with 3 beans, a little meat and a lighter but chunky tomato base. With gooey cheese, these were grub with the beers. We also tried a basket of the Baby Back Ribs $10. You get a half rack in a basket, about 6-8 ribs, of beautifully smoked tenderness. The outside had a nice dark bark and nice full smoky aroma while the inside was tender, hot and pink. No sauce on the actual meat (the way it oughta be) but they gave you plenty on side, which I barely touched, even though it wasn't bad. The meat could of used a little more rub or salt, but it was still damn tasty that we ended up ordering another basket. So a great place to chill or shall I say "defrost" for these parts, and definitely do try their ribs. They are, as they say in my neck of the woods, straight money!

Dear Gondola Pub & Grill - Thank you for hosting us twice during our trip. The first was for lunch before our half-day pass kicked in. We split the chicken strips, and each had our own starter. The white chicken chili was great and I would suggest it to anyone with taste buds. The second day was for drinks only at the bar. Though the bar area is small, it's worth spending time here when you're done with a day on the slopes (so long as you can get a seat). The Gondola Pul & Grill also offers outdoor seating around a fire for those who want that atmosphere, and can even order from the bar at the window.

What I like about the Gondola Pub & Grill is the location. It's centrally located in the little Steamboat square. The staff is pleasant and pretty attentive given the lay out of this joint. What I don't like about the Gondola Pub & Grill is that the bathrooms NEVER have hand soap!!! WTF! It's gross enough that I can't wash my hands with soap but the fact that the staff is not washing their hands with soap... blahhhhhhhhhhhhh. The whatever about the Gondola Pub & Grill is the wait time and food. Wait time can be a little long and the food is just meh.

disclaimer - I used to work here back when it was the Grubsteak. Great place for a meal or a beer. The staff is very loyal and they will take care of you whether you're a local or a "tour-on" from Minnesota.

I remember the Gondola Pub and Grill as the Grubstake from many years ago. Now, as then, this was the first place we hit for lunch on the mountain. They've got all the basics just right. Convenient location, friendly staff, simple menu, good food and lots of it. We had a variety of items from the menu - sandwich's, burgers, chicken and even fish and chips - all well prepared. I'd like to go back for dinner and try out the ribs, but dinner is served only on special holiday nights, so difficult to plan. Try their lunch.

Perfect location in the Steamboat gondola square once you come down the mountain. Great burgers and Rueben sandwiches. Very reasonably priced given the area. Service was good and we got our meals fast. Although we were there late afternoon and their was only one other two top on the patio.

Cheap booze right on the mountain. This is a nice place to hit right after a day on the slopes. The happy hour specials start at 3pm and go until 6pm, and you can find coupons with additional discounts for GPG in the local Steamboat coupon books. Service? Some confusion about our drink order, but that was quickly rectified. They split our check across credit cards and cash for our oddly numbered group. Food? I didn't have particularly high expectations for the food here, and those expectations were pretty much met. Cheese fries are less than spectacular. Booze? Yes please! Here's a coupon!

I just love this bar/grill. The food is good, the drinks are cheap, the location is great, and the atmosphere is fun. It does get crowded, but no more so than any other base-of-the-mountain bar. A great place to stop for lunch or drinks while skiing in Steamboat!

I came here twice while I was in Steamboat last week. Great location at the bottom of the gondola. Pluses - location, location, location. And live music after skiing!!! Cool Western vibe (typical Steamboat decor)! Food - Quesadilla was ok - nothing fancy, too much cheese (a phrase I have never before written in my life), I think the salsa was from a jar and the guacamole did not taste fresh. Negative - we had to wait FOREVER for our server to notice us. It was busy but not THAT busy. And it was a little annoying that the bartender didn't hook me up with a beer or a shot on my birthday.....just sayin'.
